Who we are
Caanan Rivera, MSW, is a dedicated therapist with a strong background in psychology and counseling. He earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana State University and completed his Master’s in Social Work at Indiana Wesleyan University. Over the course of his career, Caanan has worked with individuals and families affected by addiction, domestic violence, homelessness—including veterans—and at-risk youth, offering them compassionate support and evidence-based care.
Caanan specializes in individual, group, and family therapy, drawing on a wide range of therapeutic modalities to meet the unique needs of each client. His clinical approach integrates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Aggression Replacement Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, guided meditation, mindfulness practices, and Moral Reconation Therapy.Known for creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment,
Caanan helps clients confront challenges with confidence and develop the tools needed for lasting change. He believes that healing begins with trust and that every person deserves to be seen, heard, and empowered.Beyond his clinical work, Caanan is actively engaged in his community through service and peer support. He shares his home with two spirited dogs and finds strength and meaning through lifelong learning and his faith. He is guided by the words of Carl Rogers:
